Nighttime Skincare Routine 101:

Step 1: Remove Makeup

First, I remove all of my makeup. I use micellar water or makeup wipes; I’m not picky, I just need something that can take off most of my make up. I try to find products that don’t irritate my eyes as well.

Step 2: Cleanse

Second, I go in with cleanser on my Clarisonic. I make sure to thoroughly clean my face during this step. Usually I run my Clarisonic through twice to make sure that I get a deeper clean on my skin. I know that it can irritate my skin if I do that, but it doesn’t bother my skin. This is beneficial to my nighttime skincare routine. Of course, if you try this technique it could possibly irritate your skin; I am just sharing what works best for me.

Step 3: Tone

Third, I tone my skin. This is the same as my morning routine. I take 3 different products to do this. It seems a little extreme but I feel as if it give my skin the best clean possible. First, I take Clean and Clear Saclicytic Acid astringent on a clean cotton pad and apply it to my face. Second, I take the Biore witch hazel and apply it to my face. Last but not least, I go in with tea tree oil from the Body Shop. Typically, I wait about 30 seconds between each application to ensure that my face is dry.

Step 4: Apply Oil

Fourth, I put oil on my skin. I use Rose Hip Seed oil and Vitamin E oil on my face. Normally, I buy these from Marshall’s usually just because they are affordable and they work really well for me. I apply these oils to my face and my neck because it helps with my oil production as well as reducing the amount of scarring on my face. I usually apply a generous amount as well.

Step 5: Moisturize

Fifth, I moisturize. After I apply oil to my face, I wait about 5 minutes for it to sink into my skin a bit before I go in with moisturizer. I go in with an eye cream first. I have recently started using an eye cream because I want to start being proactive about my skin aging. After my eye cream is applied, I go in with nighttime moisturizer. This is going to be a little bit thicker compared to the moisturizer I use during this day. I want to really ensure that when I go to sleep, my skin is being moisturized as much as possible. Once I’m finished applying my moisturizer, it is finally time for bed!
