Another hotel review here on Couple’s Checklist as we land down in Houston, Texas to review the Hilton Americas. I was able to visit this beautiful hotel last year (2019) when I went to the Giants vs Texans game in Houston.
This was my first ever trip down to Texas and everything about the area where the Hilton was located was a success. Houston was definitely an interesting city with the humidity blasting you as you step off the plane and it was pretty quiet all around. Don’t get me wrong, Houston was beautiful, but the city didn’t have too much to offer.
The Hilton Americas hotel was easily one of the nicest hilton’s I have stayed in yet. Typically, I try to stay within the Hilton hotel chain and this one blew every single one out of the water so far.
The sharp look of the hotel was an underrated factor that drew me to staying here. As you can see above, the hotel has a unique design to it as it is connected to a massive convention center. Along with the sharp look is the actual size of the hotel. The hotel is wide and tall which allows you to get some killer views if you have a higher floor.
The amenities are what really makes this hotel great. Included within the hotel is a big gym, a rooftop indoor swimming pool and spa along with much more. When I say the amenities are great, I really am saying that the rooftop lounge steal the show… and I mean it.
Here is a photo from TripAdvisor that shows the view from the lounge.
The picture doesn’t do the full justice, but my friend and I honestly spent most of our downtime up in the lounge enjoying the view of the city.
The prices are not too bad either for views like this and great views from any room within the hotel. If you happen to travel to Houston, it would be a mistake to not stay in the Hilton Americas for at least a night.
The rooms in this hotel were pretty standard all around, but I do have to say it was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. My friend and I obviously stated in a two bed room.
My favorite trick is to lie on the reservation about needing a higher room with a view for a “special occasion”. Although we didn’t get a view of the city, our room was one of the higher views and it overlooked the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets. This was an interesting view to look down on when there were events going on at the arena.
As I said above, even if you get the side with no city view, you do get a great extensive view of the surrounding Houston areas.
Another plus of the room that I usually cover were that the walls were pretty thick. This means that the outside noise was held to a minimum which is key for a bad sleeper like me.
Along with the cleanliness of the hotels and the spectacular views, the location of this hotel was just PERFECT. As mentioned above, the Hilton Americas is located in downtown Houston in which you are in walking distance to a lot of the life within the city.
Although the city isn’t poppin’, the hotel is located next to 4 major attractions that you must visit.
- Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros)
- Toyota Center (Houston Rockets)
- George R. Brown Convention Center
- Discovery Green Park.
All of these that i have listed out were literally 5-10 minute walks from the hotel. Everything is within walking distance if you are looking to stay within the city, so a rental car may not be necessary.
Even if you were looking to travel outside of Houston, there is the “Metro” train that takes you around to different stops. Although it says you must pay, we got away on the train for free because there is no one that actually checks the tickets. Take that as a tip ;).
As you can probably tell, I loved Houston and the Hilton Americas. Although the night life might not be so exciting, it is truly one of the more beautiful cities that I have had the chance to visit. Great location, great food, and a great hotel are the perfect package for the Hilton Americas.
