Hey guys! Kayla and Mike here. We hope you guys are having a fantastic day so far. We wanted to share our first vacation with you guys. We went to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mike and I were originally supposed to go a month or so earlier but Mike had to get surgery. Our trip began on July, 26th; Mike and I got a Lyft to Newark Airport to start our interesting vacation. The car ride was very quiet until our driver received a private call but chose to put it on speaker for us to hear. Needless to say it was very awkward.
Our time spent in Newark airport was very uneventful other than our flight being delayed 2.5 hours which made our arrival even later into the night. Due to our flight being delayed, I was able to catch up on some homework and drink an expensive margarita. Mike was so bored and we both were getting so annoyed with this delay because they also decided to switch our terminal as well.
Long story short, we arrived at 1:30 AM MST which is 3:30 AM, our time. We went straight to our room and went to bed. The next morning we woke up around 7 AM and decided to go hiking. First stop, donut falls; This trail was super cool but we couldn’t make it to the actual waterfall area because it rained the night prior and it was super flooded which made it muddy.
The second hiking area we went to was Lake Blanche which was an amazing hike. We didn’t make it to the top because it was very difficult for us to breath due to high altitude changes. Later that day, we took the easy route and went to Snowbird resort. We took the famous tram all the way up to the top of the mountain and the views were BEAUTIFUL. This view/experience was so good that Mike and I had to go back the next day to do it again. After all of the hard work that we did on the mountains, we rewarded ourselves with In n Out Burger which was our first time! It definitely lived up to the hype.
Another early wake up call on Sunday and we found ourselves back on the road. Next up on the agenda was the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Salt Flats were definitely one of the more unique landscapes that nature has to provide that we have ever seen. The salt flats are basically just miles and miles of flat earth covered with salt. Mike even tried and taste it too to make sure it was salt!
After an early morning on the Salt Flats, we adventured out to Antelope Island. Antelope Island was another beautiful landmark in which it stretched miles and miles of beaches as well as mountainous hiking trails. On the island, you can also find varieties of wildlife like antelope, coyotes, and more!
And just like that our peaceful trip to Utah was over. We had a pretty hectic way home with layover flights and delays. I almost had an asthma attack while running to our connecting flight in Denver, Colorado. But overall, while our trip might have been short, it was amazing and we really want to go back!
If you guys enjoyed this post, please go ahead and leave a like or comment! Let us know what we should write about next, we really want to hear from you guys!
